Keeping it local

Not only famed for our beautiful beaches and green rolling hills, Devon has an impressive reputation for its delicious local produce. And it’s no wonder, with so many enterprising businesses and bountiful farms making the most of our lush landscape and temperate climate.

At Fresha, there’s absolutely no need for us to look further afield than our neighbours when we source our food for our business, whether that be for the café, outside catering, commercial contracts or our educational catering services (links to all pages). In Exeter we’re lucky to have an abundance of quality produce we can pick from the region’s finest producers, pretty much on our doorstep.

We’re not just proud of this glorious county and it all it offers. Right from the beginning, we wanted to commit to supporting our local economy, watching small businesses grow and the county benefit. It was one of Fresha’s core values back in 2004 and is still today (Link to read our core values here).

By keeping it local, we do our bit for the wider world too. Using local produce means less farm to fork miles and a smaller carbon footprint. We’re able to cut down on wasted packaging because our food isn’t travelling far. Delicious fresh food with minimal packaging, fuss and footprint. It doesn’t get better than this. Take a look at our local supplier map.

Meet some of our local producers

We wanted to introduce you to some of our wonderful local producers so you know exactly where your Fresha food has come from.

Have a butcher’s

Our Exeter butcher Gibbins is known for its fresh, premium West Country meat reared on local farms. Tuck into one of our tasty breakfast baguettes with prime back bacon or try something from our gourmet sandwich catering range:- rare roasted Beef & Stilton or roasted honey and mustard Ham and Fig Chutney sandwiches and see for yourself.

Chicken and egg

These beautiful birds in Aylesbeare are responsible for laying our fresh eggs.

Chutney of champs

Our delicious chutneys, which you’ll find served on some of our exquisite canapés, as part of our cheese boards, and, in fact in many of our products is made by the award winning Hillside Foods in Kenn, Exeter.

That’s not all. Our bread is baked daily on the other side of the city in Marsh Barton. Our fish comes from independent fishmongers in Exeter. Our cakes, bite-sized scones and scrumptious muffins travel just from Torquay and our fruit and veg comes from family run Dart Fresh Produce ( http://www.dartfreshproduce.co.uk ) down the road in Topsham.

Fresha by name, fresher by nature. Devon born and bred.
